From a $20M business almost breaking, to raising agents instead of hiring

I studied at the American University in Cairo — and I still go back, now to teach and speak to the next generation about building with AI.

After school I built Ariika into a $20M e-commerce business, using Odoo, Shopify, and eventually AI. It grew into an official Odoo success story — I was invited to speak about it at Odoo's headquarters in Belgium, and it's been featured in Forbes Middle East and Al Jazeera.

But a few years ago, it almost broke. We scaled faster than our systems could handle — everything was manual, and it was starting to collapse under its own weight. I was about to hire a wave of people I couldn't really afford, just to keep up.

Instead, I learned to raise AI agents like employees: start them small, correct them, give them more freedom as they earn it. In weeks, they were running the work that was burying us.

Now I run three companies — Ariika, SMEtools, and Knowcap — on a staff of graduated agents, not one extra hire. I teach founders to do the same, because the lie that "AI will replace your team" keeps people stuck. The truth: AI doesn't replace you. It frees you.
